Finding Meaning

Dear Partners in Green,

You just never know where hope may be found. There seems to be little good news regarding Climate Change with the Trump administration denying that it even exists. It would be so easy just to give up, to give into hopelessness, fear and anger, but hope may be found in some surprising places.

When we look deeply into events around us — in Scripture, in nature, in human interaction — we may find “meaning” hidden beneath what appears at first glance to be just another troubling headline.

Meaning may be found in the sacrificial efforts of communities working together to protect forests, stabilize soil, restore prairies. Meaning may be found in the resilience of people facing devastation yet working tirelessly to rebuild with ecological awareness. Meaning may be found in the next generation protesting, innovating, and refusing to be silenced.

We see meaning in the simple acts — the compost pile turning leaves into fertile soil, the garden yielding vegetables that feed family and neighbors, the conversation with someone previously unaware of climate issues that awakens their desire to act.

Another place we may find meaning is within ourselves — a deeper understanding of why we care, why we’re compelled to act, why we persist even when progress seems elusive.

Though the challenges are enormous, we are not powerless. Each small action — each step toward living more sustainably — contributes to a larger movement of care, resilience, and renewal.

So, this month, let’s reflect on meaning. Where have you found it? Where might you find it if you look just beneath the surface?

And then let’s act — intentionally, persistently, with love for the Earth and all beings who share this fragile world.

Thank you for being on this journey.

Wishing peace and health to you and your loved ones.

Until next time,
Beth
