The Danger of Christian Nationalism

Dear Partners in Green,

It is only May 2025, just a few months into the Trump administration, and he has, and is, wreaking havoc in countless ways. He has shown himself to be an angry, vindictive, heartless oligarch bent on destroying our Democracy.

What I find most disturbing is the number of citizens who support him, who seem to bear as much hatred as he does, whose vision of America includes pregnant women tied to the stove, potentially losing even the right to vote.

If you have not already, I invite you to look into Christian Nationalism, a rising trend and a contributor to Trump’s victory in November, and whose members he has put into key roles.

Where does that leave Climate Change? Where does that leave our fragile and beleaguered Earth and its present and future inhabitants, when those with the power deny that Climate Change even exists and whose supporters include those whose theology teaches them that God would never let the Earth be destroyed?

What can we do? We can continue to protest over and over again. We need to stand up, speak out, and join with our like-minded friends and neighbors. We need to become disrupters. What we don’t do is as important as what we do do.

We need to speak out, to protest, but we have to act and, in some cases, not act. We know what to do to aid our dying planet, and now we need to put our words into action. If not us, who? If not now, when?

So, spread the word of the danger of Christian Nationalism and ramp up your efforts to save the planet.

It is time to bear down!

• Live intentionally green.
• Refrain from unnecessary impulse shopping.
• Eat a vegetarian diet.
• Limit your travel; fly only when absolutely necessary.
• Refrain from indiscriminate shopping.
• Donate to proven reputable environmental charities such as Environmental Defense Fund (EDF), The Nature Conservancy (TNC), and The Sierra Club.

I may seem alarmist, but these are alarming times.
